Coffee pods are a tricky thing to package well. They are small, round, and they roll. Loose in a flimsy carton they shift around, the box looks half-empty, and the pods can split open in transit. So the first thing a good box has to do is hold the pods still and upright and then it gets to do the fun part, which is sell your coffee on the shelf. We make custom k cup boxes built around your pod, with inserts that keep each one in place and printing that puts your roast and your brand front and centre. Whether you sell a 12-pack on a retail shelf, ship bulk k cups to offices, or run a monthly coffee club, we size the box and the insert to suit. It is part of our custom product packaging boxes range, so if you also sell bags, tins or gift sets, the whole line can match.

Product Description

What makes k cup packaging work

The insert is the part that earns its keep. A pod left loose rattles, leans, and makes a full box look like it is missing a few. A cavity insert cut to your pod holds each one upright and snug, so the box feels solid when a customer picks it up and the pods stay protected on the way to them. We measure to your actual pod, because not every pod is the same height or diameter.

After that it is the usual choices: how many pods per box, the board, and the print. Coffee is an impulse and a habit buy, so the box has to look good enough to grab on a shelf and clear enough that people know the roast, the strength and the flavour at a glance. We help you get all of that onto the panels without it looking cluttered.

Who uses them

Coffee roasters and brands

For a roaster, the box is your shelf presence. A bold 12-count box in your colours, with the roast and tasting notes easy to read, is what gets picked up next to the big names. We print custom coffee pod boxes that hold their own on a crowded shelf and keep the pods upright and protected inside.

Subscription and coffee-club brands

A k cup subscription box has a different job it lands on a doorstep and it is the first thing the member sees that month. We build divided variety boxes that separate the flavours and look the part on an unboxing photo, sized to ship safely and to feel like a treat rather than a plain carton.

Gifting and seasonal sets

A k cup gift box turns a few pods into a proper present for the holidays, a corporate thank-you, or a sampler of your best roasts. Rigid or premium board with a foil logo lifts it to gift-grade, and we can match it to a seasonal look or a brand colour scheme.

Offices, hotels and bulk buyers

Offices and hotels usually want bulk k cups in larger, no-fuss cartons that are quick to restock and easy to store. We make 24-count and bigger boxes priced down at volume, with the insert still keeping everything upright so the last pod looks as good as the first.

Sizes and counts

Here is a quick guide to the common counts and what each one suits.

Holds Style Good for Insert?
4–6 pods Small tuck box Samplers, gifts, trial packs Optional divider
10–12 pods Standard retail box Shelf sales, the everyday pack Yes holds pods upright
24 pods Larger carton Bulk, value packs Yes
Mixed / variety Divided carton Subscriptions, gift sets Yes separates flavours
Single-serve sleeve Slim sleeve Hotel, office, trial Snug fit

The 12-count is the everyday retail box, the 24 is the one for bulk and value packs, and variety boxes suit subscriptions and gifts. Whatever count you choose, send us your pod measurements so the cavities hold them upright and snug.

Board and finish

The board sets the look and the strength. Here is how the main options compare.

Board Look Best for Note
White SBS Bright, clean Bold print, retail shelves Best for true colour
Natural kraft Warm, craft feel Small-batch roasters Eco, FSC® on request
Recycled kraft Earthy, flecked Eco-led coffee brands Recycled fibre
Rigid / premium Heavy, gift-grade Gift boxes, keepsakes Adds a premium feel

White board is best for bright, bold print and a clean retail look. Kraft gives that small-batch, craft-roaster feel. For gift boxes, heavier rigid board feels the part. Add foil or a soft-touch finish on a gift or premium line if you want it to stand out.

Getting the fit right

One thing worth saying from doing a lot of these: measure your actual pod, both the diameter across the top rim and the height, before we cut the insert. Pods vary more than people expect between brands and refillable types, and a cavity cut for the wrong size either lets the pod rattle around or grips it too tight. Send us the real measurements, and if you are not sure, post us a pod or order a sample and try it in the box before the full run. We send a proof and dieline on every job so you are signing off on a real fit, not a guess.

A note on food safety and recycling

Where the box or insert touches the pods, we use food-grade board and low-migration inks meant for food contact, and our stock meets the usual food-packaging rules. On recycling, plain board cartons recycle easily when clean, and kraft is about as eco-friendly as the board gets. If you add a laminate or foil for a premium look it does make recycling harder, so we will be straight with you about that trade-off. Recycled and FSC® board are there if low waste matters to your brand.

Want k-cup boxes that hold your pods upright and sell your coffee on the shelf? Send your pod size, the count per box, your quantity and your artwork. We will come back with a dieline and a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not if the insert is cut right. The cavity holds each pod upright and snug so it cannot tip or roll, which also makes the box feel full and solid when a customer picks it up. The trick is measuring to your actual pod too wide and it rattles, too tight and it is hard to get out. Send us your pod size and we cut the insert to match.
Yes. A k cup subscription box usually works best as a divided variety carton that separates the flavours and looks good in an unboxing photo. We size it to ship safely and print it so it feels like a treat on the doorstep, not a plain shipper. Tell us how many pods, how many flavours, and your brand look, and we will build it.
We do. A k cup gift box in rigid or premium board, with a foil logo or a soft-touch finish, turns a few pods into a proper present great for holidays, corporate gifts and samplers of your best roasts. We can match it to a seasonal theme or your brand colours. Just tell us the count and the look you are after.
Yes. Bulk cartons 24-count and up are priced down at volume, so the more you order the less each box costs. Handy for offices, hotels and steady retail. You still get the same custom insert, free Pantone® match and print options on a bulk run. Send your quantity and timeline and we will put together a bulk quote.
We keep minimums low so small roasters and new brands are not forced into huge orders. Normal turnaround is 10–12 working days after you approve the proof, with a rush of 6–8 days when slots are open. A printed sample takes a few days once the artwork is set, and we suggest one on a first order so you can check the print and the pod fit.
