A box is the right call for a lot of products, but a tube does a few things a box cannot. It protects round and fragile items better, because there are no corners to crush and the curved wall is strong. It stands out on a shelf full of rectangles. And it gives you that satisfying twist-or-lift opening that makes a product feel considered.
There is a practical side too. Cardboard tube packaging stores and ships tidily, the printing wraps all the way around so there is no blank back panel, and a kraft tube reads as eco without you having to say a word. For the right product, round tube packaging earns its place.
Candles and tubes go together well. The tube protects the glass or tin, looks premium on a shelf, and the lift-off lid gives a nice reveal. We make kraft paper tube packaging for the natural, hand-poured look and printed tubes for brighter ranges, sized so the candle sits snug and does not rattle in transit.
Push-up paper tubes are a favourite for solid balms, deodorants and lip products the base slides up to dispense, and the whole thing is mostly paper instead of plastic, which suits clean-beauty brands. For jars and bottles, a printed tube around them adds protection and a premium unbox.
Tubes work nicely for tea, coffee beans, spices and snacks, especially with a food-grade liner inside and a snug metal cap to keep things fresh. The shape stands out next to bags and boxes, and the all-round print gives you plenty of room for the story and the brewing notes.
For spirits and gifting, a telescopic tube with a lift-off lid feels like an occasion. Rigid board, a foil logo and a snug fit around the bottle turn a single product into a gift worth giving. We can match the look to a brand or a seasonal theme.
The original use for the tube and still a good one. Sturdy cardboard paper tube packaging protects rolled posters, prints and documents in the post, and a printed tube turns a plain mailer into part of the brand experience.
There is more than one kind of tube, and the right one depends on the product. Here is a quick look.
| Tube type | Ends / lid | Good for | Note |
| Kraft paper tube | Paper or metal caps | Candles, food, eco brands | Warm, recyclable look |
| White / printed tube | Paper or metal caps | Bold retail print | Best for true colour |
| Push-up tube | Sliding base | Balms, deodorant, lip | Dispenses product |
| Telescopic tube | Lift-off lid | Gifts, spirits, posters | Premium unbox feel |
| Window tube | Clear panel | Showing the product | Plastic film affects recycling |
Kraft and printed tubes with caps cover most retail and gifting. Push-up tubes suit balms and solids. Telescopic tubes give the premium lift-off reveal. A window tube shows the product but the film does affect recycling we will flag that if it matters to you.
The ends and the finish change both how the tube works and how it feels. Here are the main options.
| Option | What it is | Best for | Note |
| Paper caps | Card lid both ends | Eco, fully recyclable | Cleanest end-of-life |
| Metal caps | Tin lid both ends | Premium, snug seal | Adds weight and feel |
| Foil / soft-touch | Premium finishes | Gifts, luxury lines | Lifts perceived value |
| Emboss / spot UV | Texture & highlights | Logos, brand detail | Tactile, premium |
Paper caps are the cleanest for recycling. Metal caps feel premium and seal snugly. Foil, soft-touch, emboss and spot UV are there when you want a tube to feel like a gift. We will suggest a combination that fits your product and your budget.

One thing worth saying from making a lot of these: measure the product, not the space you think you need. Give us the diameter and height of what is going inside the widest point and tell us if it is fragile or needs to slide in and out, like a candle you light and re-cover. We build the tube to fit snug so the product does not rattle, but not so tight that it is a struggle to get out. If you are not sure, send us the product or order a sample and try it before the full run. We send a proof and dieline on every job so you are signing off on a real fit, not a guess.
Where the tube holds food, we line it with food-grade material and use low-migration inks meant for food contact, and our stock meets the usual food-packaging rules. On recycling, paper tubes with paper caps are about as clean as packaging gets mostly card, easy to recycle, and kraft is recyclable and often compostable. Metal caps, window film and foil all look great but make recycling a bit more involved, so we will be straight with you about the trade-off. If low waste is the priority, we will steer you to an all-paper build. Recycled and FSC® board are available too.
